The eighteen etchings that Duchamp made to illustrate the two volumes of The Large Glass and Related Works were conceived of and elaborated over a period of four years. They are his last important achievement as well as the most extensive set of illustrations that he ever dedicated to a book. Seven of the nine etchings in Volume I depict the seven most important elements of the Large Glass. The eighth and ninth etchings show the work as it existed before it was broken in 1927 and as it would have appeared had it ever been completed. For Volume II, Duchamp settled on the theme of The Lovers. In these nine etchings, we find the continuation of the Bride and Bachelor`s odyssey that was interrupted in the Large Glass at a crucial moment -- just before they were to meet.

A highly collectible copy!
