Percale is a particularly fine-threaded and tightly woven fabric. Due to
these properties, percale is well suited as a basis for delicately
colored print designs with fine markings. Elsewhere, percale is
described as a strong, unnapped, printed shirting fabric, as opposed to
zefir (brightly patterned batiste) and oxford (brightly woven). It is a
preferred material for bed linen and duvet covers, as well as for shirts
and blouses .
