Terrier and Hare, Original Antique Oil Painting, Manner of George Armfield.
This oil painting on gessoed wood panel is c. 1850, and done in a manner similar to George Armfield (British b. 1808, d. 1893). Armfield was particularly known for his paintings or terrier type dogs, often in a dynamic pose such as chasing prey. The painting appears to have an old master style ochre under painting with areas of glazing, particularly in the dog. Acquired from an estate in West Germany.

Condition: Recently restored, surface cleaned and a fresh varnish applied. Previously overcleaned in glazed areas, small areas of overpaint. Otherwise excellent condition.

We guarantee that all items are exactly as described in the photographs, descriptions, and condition reports. If the item is not as described, please contact us to return it within 48 hours of delivery and we will cover the shipping cost.
For other returns where the item is as described but is not what you are looking for, please contact us within 14 days of its delivery for a return authorization, and we will help you coordinate its return. A 20% restocking fee plus any shipping and handling costs we incurred will be deducted from your refund. Return shipping is the buyer’s responsibility to arrange for. The returned item must be received in its original condition within 14 days of return authorization.
*In the event a client has requested shipment be delayed or where shipping/pickup is being handled by the buyer, items are eligible for return for 30 days from the date of payment, after which point the sale is final.*
Purchased items will generally ship within five to ten business days of receiving cleared payment. International purchases are not eligible for return.
