Impatiens capensis, the orange jewelweed, common jewelweed, spotted jewelweed, or orange balsam, is an annual plant which is native to eastern North America.  Commonly and historically recommended for use as a soothing herb for skin irritated by poison ivy & poison oak, stinging nettle, and many other skin irritations or swollen itchy rashes. Used as an infusion, tincture, salve or macerated poultice.
