I reinstalled Windows XP Home Edition which matches the COA sticker on the back and activated it. I don't have the original Gateway drivers disc so the system specific drivers are still missing and need to be tracked down. The battery powered to 95% but then drained to 3% in about 10 minutes so it needs to be replaced. Cosmetically there are some cracks on the case and one of the hinges has a broken piece of plastic which is only loosely sitting in place. This is just the laptop and power supply as pictured. No box, manuals, or drivers discs.
