Cabinet plate 23cm.

2/6 Tulip - 3/no 8037

I have 6 of these beautifully hand painted plates.

Hand painted central area with a botanical specimen, with a raised border in a green turquoise ground with yellow, and gold foliage. The name of the species on the back in red along with numbers.

Whilst there are no definitive marks on the underside after some research found a similar dessert set indicating they were made by Coalport.

The online source I found (goantiques) states with reference to a 12 piece dessert set in identical pattern “appraised for insurance purposes in 1998 by Sotheby's for $7,000 and attributed Coalport, is now believed to be from Samuel Alcock. From an important Bedford NY estate. Provenance upon request.  This service has a turquoise ground decorated with ivy leaves enclosing twelve different flower specimens, with the Latin species name painted on reverse.”

Condition: no chips, no cracks and no restoration. Some wear to the gold but very little and only a few marks indicating these were decorative. The ceramic is porcelain and there are some minor inclusions and stilt marks from firing and manufacture. All the decoration is hand painted. Please see photos this gives you a good idea on the wear.

We do buy in high quality boxes and packaging for the transportation of ceramics. Postage and packing is expensive and eBay take 20% of the postage and packing fee. We operate this at cost.
