This is a original brown tone chine colle engraving after a painting by George B. Drake a well listed artist 1870-1940. It is pencil signed by the artist and is a proof before letters. It was meant to be mounted to a stiffer paper backer. The paper is quite strong and tear resistant somewhat like vellum. We bought a large collection of these engravings 40 years ago in Maine. They came from the estate of a gentleman who worked for R. Dudensing & Sons in New York. We will be putting up a nice collection of unused proof prints from this Co.
