I am pleased to present this charming miniature painting elegantly framed in rosewood with glorious aged patina.  Measurements are:  outside frame - 4 3/4" square, while round painting itself is 2 1/4" diameter.   It is signed Mussy.  

Attention to detail is superb - as shown in the glimpse of the pink rose in lower right side of her garment to the thin locks of hair delicately floating on her forehead.  Round gold metal frame adds a touch of brightness to the portrait.

Back side is lined with paper printed in Latin.  This bit of evidence dates the portrait to late 18th - early 19th century.
