This is a original brown tone chine colle engraving after a painting by Harnisch . It is pencil signed by the artist and is a proof before letters. We could find no info on this artist. It was meant to be mounted to a stiffer paper backer after printing. The paper is quite strong and tear resistant somewhat like vellum. We bought a large collection of these engravings 40 years ago in Maine. They came from the estate of a gentleman who worked for R. Dudensing & Sons in New York. We will be putting up a nice collection of unused proof prints from this Co.
