General Pershing led the US forces in France during 1917-18. This was

trench warfare, included large artillery guns and the introduction of armored tanks

and biplanes. The Americans tipped the balance of power after England/France vs,

Germany and allies, had stalemated in 1917. The end came in November 1918

when the Germans had expended most of their military age men.

General Pershing a West Point graduate (class of 1886) was the veteran of the Indian Wars,

and the Spanish-American War. He also was a teacher at West Point.
