Description:  It is an authentic antique map approximately 146 years by Adolph von Steinwehr, as stated in the title block, from An Elementary Treatise on Physical Geography, which Steinwehr co-authored with D.M. Warren, published in Philadelphia by Cowperthwait, 1873Steinwehr was a Prussian officer who immigrated to the United States and served as a Union brigadier general in the Civil War participating at the Battle of Bull Run, Chancellorsville, Gettysburg and other battles. After the war he was employed as a cartographer and became a professor at Yale University. It is being sold as a loose map, not mounted, matted nor framed, as seen in the main pic photographed against a dark background. A nice map with strong color that would frame up with a desirable antique appearance!

Size: The map image between the neat lines measures approximately 8 by 11 inches (20x28cm) on a 9 1/2 by 12" (24x31cm) page as seen in the main pic.

Condition: It is in Good condition for its age, text on reverse, printed on a strong page with very nice color. There are a couple of stain on the edge, a nick off the bottom corner and tonal ageing, otherwise it is very clean and would frame up well with a desirable antique patina, see the pics for more on condition. The pics are of the actual map.
