USS TENNESSEE BB-43 memorial cover for the famous battleship attacked at Pearl Harbor in 1941, pictorially postmarked on Feb 23, 1976 at Nashville, TN. Color battle painting printed on cachet #2769 by Alvin Eckert, USCS #9964.

This fine battleship was lightly damaged by enemy aerial bombs and was wedged between the sunken USS West Virginia and the two concrete quays. She was released from her Ford Island prison on December 16th. This was after the USS Maryland was moved out of the position forward and a concrete quay was removed. She then sailed to Puget Sound Shipyard for repairs, and went on to earn ten WW II Battle Stars in the Pacific Theater and a Navy Unit Citation.
