Excellent
progressive rock from Canada in the style of early Marillion

This CD was released by Red Sand as part of the “Mirror of Insanity 10th Anniversary“ box set and now is available as single CD. It is the remastered version of Red Sand’s first album with a modified cover. The original album came out in 2004, a remastered CD was available in 2011 for a short time. The remastering has considerably improved the sound quality of the original album. So the instruments and vocals now sound more differentiated and also the bass range is clearly improved.
Over several parts this CD sounds like a “lost” work of early Marillion. Despite occasional criticism for this similarity the band offers magnificent prog rock with great vocals and excellent instrumentation on this album. The music is very melodic and emotional and comprises bombastic instrumental parts with stunning guitar and keyboard passages. The first three tracks are long songs with more than 12, 10 and 14 Minuten playing time.

Diese CD wurde von Red Sand mit dem Box-Set “Mirror of Insanity 10th Anniversary“ veröffentlicht und ist nun als Einzel-CD erhältlich. Es handelt sich um die remasterte Version des ersten Albums von Red Sand mit einem modifizierten Cover. Das ursprüngliche Album erschien 2004, eine remasterte Version war bereits einmal 2011 für kurze Zeit erhältlich. Das Remastering ist der Soundqualität der ursprünglichen CD-Version hörbar zugute gekommen. So klingen die Instrumente und der Gesang jetzt differenzierter und auch der Bass-Bereich ist deutlich verbessert.
Die CD klingt über weite Strecken wie ein “verschollenes” Werk der frühen Marillion. Auch wenn dies der Band teilweise Kritik einbrachte, wird hier doch hervorragender Prog-Rock mit starkem Gesang und exzellenter Instrumentierung geboten. Die Musik ist sehr melodisch und emotional und weist ausgedehnte und teilweise bombastische Instrumentalparts mit tollen Gitarren- und Keyboardpassagen auf. Die ersten drei Stücke sind komplexe Long-Tracks mit jeweils über 12, 10 und 14 Minuten.
Gemäß progarchives.com ist dies das bestbewertete Album von Red Sand und ich kann es Liebhabern progressiven Rocks wärmstens empfehlen.
