This hardcover book of 176 pages for educational purposes, written by a teacher at the Paris Furniture School, answers the questions of cabinetmakers who must simultaneously design, draw and build their furniture.
It approaches the traditional knowledge of cabinetmaking through the elements of the structure of the furniture: the legs and uprights, the crosspieces, the tops and the plinths. For each of these categories, many models of various styles are presented.
The realization of some of them is then explained step by step, to understand how to overcome the technical difficulties encountered both in design, layout or assembly.
The models are inspired by classic cabinetmaking as well as contemporary cabinetmaking. Thus, depending on the circumstances, the orders, the tastes or the evolutions of the profession, the reader will be able to freely imagine other aesthetic or technical proposals.
