■Unlike conventional recorders, the OCTAPAD is equipped with a new phrase loop function that is not intended for "recording" but for "performing in real time". ■The OCTAPAD is equipped with newly designed rubber pads with excellent sensing performance, incorporating Roland's V-Drums technology and know-how that has been cultivated over many years. With a wide dynamic range from soft to hard hits, you can play the latest built-in percussion/drum sounds expressively. The rubber pads of the OCTAPAD feel good and are quiet. It also prevents mispronunciations due to crosstalk between pads, greatly increasing its reliability as an instrument.

■The OCTAPAD has 670 newly developed percussion/drum sounds built in. By simply selecting from the wide variety of kits available, you can perform a wide range of performances that suit various musical scenes. The layer function allows you to layer each sound to add thickness to the sound, or switch/fade/crossfade different sounds depending on the strength of the hit. By making full use of the layer function and eight instrument parameters, you can adjust the sound to be completely different from the original sound. In addition, 30 types of multi-effects tuned to percussion/drum sounds are effective in creating unique sounds. The OCTAPAD alone can instantly create the sound that the player imagines. Equipped with ambience, equalizer, and limiter, it is possible to produce a sound that matches the image of the song and the performance scene.

■OCTAPAD is equipped with four Trigger inputs as an expansion Trigger input. It also supports V-Pad and V-Cymbal using mesh pads, so you can perform more expressive performances such as rim shots and hitting different cymbals. In addition, hi-hat control pedals FD-8 and V-Hi-Hat VH-11 can also be connected. By adding KD-8 and FD-8, it is possible to build a compact drum set centered around OCTAPAD.
