OUT-OF-PRINT 2013 LIMITED EDITION 4-SONG AUDIO CASSETTE TAPE from Southern California pop group THE HOLLYBERRIES entitled, I Wanna Go Surfin' with Santa! and Other (Mostly Christmas) Surf-Pop Delights (Burger Records BRGR00649).  Contains four family-friendly trax, which were originally released and previously only available digitally via iTunes, etc., including "(I Wanna Go) Surfin' with Santa!" (2009) "(C-mon-a) Surfin' Christmas Holiday" (2010) "Boards & Bikinis Rule (Down at Malibu)" (2011) and "Santa's Supersonic Flying Rocket Sled" (2012).  Same 4-song program plays on both sides.  Brand new MINT condition.  Pressed in the USA.   (NOTE: Santa figurines pictured above with the cassette are NOT included with this lot.)

Here's some more information on the EP, as taken from the back cover liner notes:   "Dig this!  THE HOLLYBERRIES is the pet recording project of KIP BROWN, guitarist and founding member of one of L.A.’s original ‘70s punk rock bands, SHOCK (“This Generation’s on Vacation”).  Born and raised in Southern California, Kip has long had a passion for surf music, and is a die-hard fan of Jan & Dean, The Beach Boys and Dick Dale.  (Kip, in fact, compiled the best-selling 1989 Rhino Records release, King of the Surf Guitar: The Best of Dick Dale & His Del-Tones.)  He also loves Christmas music!  Ho-ho-ho!  It was only natural that Kipster would wanna one day write and record his own surf-pop Christmas “chestnut."

"That dream came true in late 2009 with the digital release of a cool little tune about yours truly entitled “(I Wanna Go) Surfin’ with Santa!”  Featuring Kip’s mini-Wall of Sound production and lead vocals courtesy of ‘80s pop duo THE LITTLE GIRLS (“Earthquake Song”), “Surfin’ With Santa!” garnered a string of accolades and fans right out of the gate and was called everything from a "fun little slice of holiday bubblegum surf" to a "new Christmas classic." HipChristmas.com named the tune one of the few new “gems” of the 2009 holiday season, calling it an “irresistible, effervescent piece of pop,” and radio personalities everywhere, from Rodney Bingenheimer to Dr. Demento, played the tune on their annual holiday programs.  (Thanks, guys!)

"Encouraged by the positive response, Kip next released "(C’mon-a) Surfin' Christmas Holiday," his theme song for an imaginary beach party flick.  Kipster was joined on the track by a wonderful cast of friends and supporting players, including former rock and roll groupie, Frank Zappa protégé (the G.T.O.’s) and best-selling author PAMELA DES BARRES (I'm With The Band), percussionist/vocalist/songwriter NELSON BRAGG (The Brian Wilson Band, Beach Boys 50th Anniversary Tour band member, The Now People), and JONATHAN PALEY (The Paley Brothers, Nervous Eaters), who shares lead vocal duties here with K.B.  Originally released as “(Let’s Have a) Surfin’ Christmas Holiday,” the version that appears here is a much-improved remix with added surf guitar.  Points to those of you who can make out the cowbells during the song’s outro.  (More cowbell, you say?)

"The following year saw the release of "Boards & Bikinis Rule (Down at Malibu)," a swingin’ slice of summer fun dedicated to that most iconic of California surfing spots.  Featuring a crazy brew of punky rhythm guitars, cello, Tijuana Brass-inspired trumpets and surf vocal harmonies, the recording was mixed and originally mastered by Kip’s pal, veteran producer and engineer, ED STASIUM (Ramones, The Smithereens, Living Colour, Mick Jagger, etc.), who also kindly added the “Lonely Surfer”-influenced guitar solo to the track.

"Included as an added bonus is a fun little tongue-twister of a track entitled "Santa's Supersonic Flying Rocket Sled," featuring special guest PRESCOTT NILES from The Knack ("My Sharona") and, making their professional singing debuts, sisters ALYSSA(age 11) and JO ANNA (age 13) EDMISON.

"Up until now, all four tunes have only been available as digital downloads.  This is the first time all four have been released together in physical form, and on some wicked cool colored vinyl, to boot!

"My advice?  Pick up a copy of this limited edition Hollyberries EP today before they’re all gone!  Of course, you could wait until Christmas to see if I bring you one, but by then it will probably be too late.  I can’t always work miracles!

Cheers,

Santa"
