This model is new in the box.  He was purchased at BreyerFest 2022 – Live at Kentucky Park in July 2022.  He has been in my non-smoking, adult only home since purchase.  There are no visible flaws on the model or box.  He was a limited edition of 3000 and sold in the Breyer Store.  Montanara is a portrait model of the real horse.  I am unable to inspect the side that is attached to the box.

Meet Montanara, one of only two Black Forest Draft stallions (Schwarzwaelder Kaltblut) found in North America.  Born at Seidel’s stables in Washington State, Montanara is currently owned by Elizabeth Keck of Once upon a Dream Acres in Idaho.  Mantanara was brought in utero from the Black Forest in Germany and was the first Black Forest Draft horse to be born on North American soil.  He exhibits the breed’s naturally calm and willing demeanor and has done everything asked of him from riding to driving and even snow-plowing.  He passes his incredible temperament, strength and beauty to his foals so future generations can enjoy this wonderful breed.

The Black Forest Draft horse originated in the densely forested and mountainous southwest region of Germany known as the Black Forest (Schwarzwald) many centuries ago.  The lightweight draft breed is hardy and bred to live, work, and thrive in this rugged region.  Fewer than 3,500 purebreds exist, mostly living within Germany with a handful around the globe.  The oldest German state stud, Marbach, manages the breed’s preservation program and has the largest breeding program housing 20 Black Forest Draft stallions.  Today the Black Forest Draft horse is mainly used for riding, driving, and therapeutic programs, while some are still used for farm working the Black Forest region of Germany.

While Montanara was born in the U. S., his dam was bred and imported from the Black Forest, located in the state of Baden-Wurttemberg.  The Black Forest region extends for over 100 miles and got its name from the dark-colored pine trees that grow in this region.

 

No flaws were seen on the exposed area.  See the photos.  His mane and tail are a pearl peachy color.  The model is stamped in gold on the belly with the oval Breyer logo and “BreyerFest 2022”
