Description:

C2F.Benefits:

w Is suitable for ceramic, porcelain, vitrified, mosaic,
marble and natural stone tiles.

Uses:
Bond It RAPID-FLEX is a flexible, fast setting, thick or thin bed adhesive for bonding ceramic, quarry, porcelain, vitrified, natural stone, travertine and mosaic tiles to walls and floors. Because of the fast acting properties, tiles can be grouted and suitable for use in approximately 2 hours after fixing (at normal temperatures). RAPID-FLEX will bond to concrete, sand/cement screeds, building blocks and brickwork. It can be used to bond to wooden surfaces, glazed surfaces or used with underfloor heating.
RAPID-FLEX is suitable for interior use including locations which are subject to regular wetting eg. domestic showers and bathrooms. NOTE: This product is not suitable for use in areas subject to permanent water immersion. A separate flexible admixture is not required.

Preparation:
The substrate must be clean, structurally sound and free from dust, oil, grease and any other contamination that may prevent adhesion. It should also be strong enough to support the weight of the tiles being fixed. RAPID-FLEX can be applied to dry or moist surfaces but moisture sensitive materials must be dry and remain dry after fixing. Porous gypsum, aerated concrete and interior asphalt substrates should be primed with products such
as Bond It PRIMER AND FLEXIBLE ADMIXTURE. Concrete Brick and Blockwork: Ensure that these are dry and cured through. Freshly laid concrete can take up to 3 months to fully cure. Do not apply tiles until it is fully cured.

Painted surfaces:
Any loose or water sensitive paint should be removed. Any subsequent bonds to a painted surface are only as strong as the paint film. Rough & Uneven Surfaces: These should be levelled with a suitable levelling compound and allowed to dry before tiling. Other Surfaces: RAPID-FLEX can be used on wooden floors, glazed surfaces and gloss/eggshell painted surfaces. Existing timber floors should be over boarded with 15mm exterior grade plywood rigidly fixed by screws at 300mm centers. Non porous surfaces, such as existing tiles or gloss/eggshell painted surfaces, should be primed
with Bond It PRIMER AND FLEXIBLE ADMIXTURE. Tiled

Surfaces: The surface of existing tiled floors or walls should be sound; any loose or hollow sounding tiles should be made secure. When tiling over vinyl tiles, check that they are securely bonded and are free from polish or other materials that will impede adhesion. Provide a key by rubbing with coarse sand paper and prime with Bond It PRIMER & FLEXIBLE ADMIXTURE. Underfloor Heating: When tiling on substrates incorporating underfloor heating, turn off 48 hours before tiling and do not turn
on for 48 hours after completion, from a low setting slowly increasing the temperature by 5o C per day.

Anhydrite/calcium sulphate screeds:
should be sanded and vacuumed before priming with 2 coats of Bond It PRIMER AND FLEXIBLE ADMIXTURE and left to dry for 24 hours prior to application.

Mixing:
20Kg of RAPID-FLEX should be mixed with 4L of clean water. Slowly add the powder to the water while stirring with a suitable slow speed drill or paddle. Do not mix more adhesive than can be used within a 15 minute period. In hot weather the pot life will be reduced. Never add more water to a mixture that has begun to set.

Application:
Taking account of surface irregularities, use a suitable sized notched trowel that will give 100% coverage of adhesive to the back of the tile. Press and twist the tiles into place ensuring a minimum bead thickness of 3mm. For deep studded tiles, large format tiles or for wet areas, it will be necessary to butter the back of the tile with adhesive to improve adhesion. Remove and inspect the back of a tile occasionally to ensure adequate bedding
is being achieved. Expansion joints must be provided according to the relevant part of BS5385. ‘Dot and Dab’ is not a recommended method of application. Final set will occur after approximately 2 hours Never compromise on quality!
