Here's a scarce 2 gallon salt glaze stoneware 1870s jug from Boston with cobalt decoration on front....A.B.WHEELER & CO BOSTON,MASS impressed into shoulder with number 2....cobalt highlight in each letter.....large cobalt hand painted leaves over 7"wide on front.....Hand thrown heavy stoneware jug with tan salt glaze finish....thick heavy applied handle...14"tall....Excellent condition with only one shallow chip on side of lip. Also a shallow glaze scratch near base. No other damage. A nice clean jug with only an area of old aging/stain.  Nice bold embossing and bright cobalt decoration. This jug is attributed to the West Troy Pottery that was located in West Troy, New York...circa 1870s......An awesome jug that is hard to find and very nice looking.....comes out of our own personal collection.We just cant keep everything, so after 50 years of digging and collecting we have decided to part with many of our bottles (to make room for more..haha)...so keep watching our listings as many rare treasures are being found!
