Province of Santa Barbara the Samaná

Samaná is a province of the Dominican Republic colonized on January 12, 1493, by the Spanish Christopher Columbus who arrived in the area during his first voyage to America and described it as "the most beautiful land on the face of the earth" after embarking on the white sands of Bahía de Rincón. At that time, Samaná was occupied by the Ciguayo tribe and the first hostile encounter between Europeans and indigenous people occurred.

This is considered the first case of violent opposition to the Spanish conquistadors in America, as they were attacked with spears and arrows by the native warriors.

With more than 10,000 inhabitants of cheerful, helpful and friendly people, where more than 95% of its population is a mix of African Americans and Frenchmen who, currently, their new descendants have completely lost their native language, English and French, to the Spanish language.
