This fine two lane, under 45 mph, 469 mile long parkway is located in the Blue Ridge Mountains and connects Shenandoah Nat Park to Great Smoky Mountains NP. The headquarters and visitor's center is near Asheville, NC. This is the most used NPS Unit nearly every year, with dogwood flowers, azalea blooms in Spring and Fall Tree Colors in Autumn. The parkway travels along the mountain ridges and reaches over 6,000 feet at critical passes.
