Agate, a variety of chalcedony, is a microcrystalline variety of silica characterized by its fineness of grain and brightness of color. Although agates may be found in various kinds of rock, they often associated with volcanic rocks. Agate presents in a rainbow of amazing colors, patterns and bandings and can be beautifully polished. It is a translucent stone with a waxy luster and often exhibits banding & quartz filled cavities.
