Iron gall ink [gall-wasp ink] was the most commonly used ink in the American colonies.  It was easily made and could be powdered which was helpful for soldiers and travelers.   In fact, iron gall ink was used by Thomas Jefferson to write the Declaration of Independence.  While this kit includes iron sulfate crystals to darken the ink, the Colonists threw rusty nails or horseshoes into the gall wasp liquid.

Kit includes 2 ounces gall wasp nests [enouth to fil 2 pint jars or 1 quart jar], iron sulfate,, gum Arabic, and instructions.  Brand new, created on our farm in California using organic gall wasp nests.
