First Period Worcester c1765.

Pierced porcelain basket bowl of circular form, the flared sides pierced with interlocking circles, centrally painted with a flower spray and externally applied with florets.

Measures diameter 25cm.

The central spray of finely hand painted florals are in excellent condition. There isn’t any marks or wear to the central panel. A few manufacturing pock marks but only visible when light is cast over the surface.

Damage, there are a few missing petals and florals to the outside but upon close inspection these look to be glazed so quite probably manufacturing flaws. One flower is missing entirely but that in itself is interesting from a manufacturing perspective. I can see two very fine hairlines that seem to be related to the porcelain cuts at the time of production, they don’t appear to go through to the other side so quite possibly these are craze lines in the glaze.

There is a section of very old restoration, even that looks as though it was perhaps done just after manufacture as the applied flower in the back is somehow selected away from its point of origin. Just very interesting.

It has a feel of real weight and quality and it has been cared for because I can’t see any other damage or scratches from use. It is a beautiful example of its type even with the various flaws.

This item will be sent packed in high quality packaging. I try to use only high density boxes for fragile items and in most cases double box with extra padding. EBay also takes 20% of the postage and packing fee. We do not scrimp on protection. In the uk this will be sent using a next day service.
