Goldsmith Jorma Valo

Jorma Valo was born on the shores of Lake Oulunjärvi in the year of the end of the Second World War. From there, the path of a child accustomed to a meager life took him with his family to southern Finland, where a hard-working and hard-working schoolboy ended up learning from a goldsmith. At first, the salary of the young apprentice was so modest that with the first account bag, Jorma could only buy new pants to replace the broken ones. However, Jorma was fast and after the army he was already such a skilled goldsmith that his then employer announced that he was the highest paid goldsmith in Finland in 1967–1968.

In 1968, Jorma built his own house for Rusko and in connection with the house premises for a goldsmith's workshop. The modest Valo-Koru Oy started its operations with the help of one man, but quickly grew into a goldsmith factory employing dozens of people. Everything has been based on our own high-quality collection. In a few years, the design and vision of the artist Hannu Ikonen, combined with Jorm's wonderful creation, created a revolutionary original collection.
