A lovely, Asafo flag ( Asafo frankaa ) from Ghana. In a rare burnt orange
colour, used,
but in a great vintage condition.
These flags are visual representations of military organisations
in Fante
communities known as "Asafo".
The Asafo or "companies" each have their own flag name and number.
Every flag has a message /story to tell from the images displayed on the flag.
The Flags were used during the installation of a new Asafo Captain , during
festivals , funerals of a companies member and
during other traditional events.
A fine Asafo Flag, well sewn and very neat.
I personally pick all my flags and do a rigorous quality control checks on them.
I make sure they are nice, well sewn and detailed.
