Yamaha FG's original head shape features a tuning fork logo. The truss rod cover is engraved with "Since 1966," which indicates the origin of Yamaha guitars.
Top adopts Sitka spruce veneer with A.R.E. Although it is new, it has a rich sound as if it had been played for many years, and a powerful sound with a warm mid-low range that is unique to mahogany. The cohesive sound is great for chord strokes or rhythmic fingerstyle playing.
Solid mahogany is used for Side/Back. Realizes a warm and rich midrange unique to mahogany.
Cow bone (#5 grade only) is used for the upper and lower pieces. Bovine bone is very stiff and provides more effective sound transmission from the strings to the neck to the body. A high level of skill is required to install and adjust the cow bone nut, and each one is carefully manufactured by skilled guitar craftsmen in Japan.
Aiming to obtain the ideal warm tone, we have made repeated improvements by combining pseudo-prototypes that make full use of the latest acoustic analysis simulation technology and prototypes that are made with wood. The scalloped bracing used in the FG/FS#800 series has been optimized according to the characteristics of the wood itself and the same type of FG and FS, realizing further expansion of the low range.
Yamaha's original Acoustic Resonance Enhancement (A.R.E.) is applied to the front plate. By controlling temperature, humidity, and atmospheric pressure with high precision, changes similar to those of lumber that have been lumbered for a long time are produced in a short period of time. Realization of acceleration, increase in rise of treble components, and speeding up of attenuation. A.R.E. processing produces a mature, warm sound that is well-balanced and free of harsh overtones, making it sound like a guitar that has been playing for years.
The newly developed Atmosfeel 3-way pickup system has an under-saddle piezo sensor for mid-low frequencies, a microphone mounted on the preamp for low frequencies, and a proprietary ultra-thin contact sensor for high frequencies. Different pickups reliably capture each range.
The controller section of "Atmosfeel" allows you to easily create sounds by mixing each pickup with a very simple operation. Adjust the expression of delicate tones with the master volume knob, and add a sense of box resonance with the mic blend knob. The Bass EQ controller allows you to adjust the peak EQ.
