50 RENTENMARK GERMANY “WHEAT SHEAF ISSUE” 1934 BANKNOTE SERIES A PICK #172 VERY FINE SCARCE  

Offered is a scarce banknote from Germany, 50 Rentenmark, dated July 6, 1934, Pick #172, series A with serial number: A • 2181625. 

The banknote is circulated in Very Fine (VF) condition with a heavier vertical and a heavier horizontal center fold, 2 lighter vertical 

folds and one small top left corner fold (pictured); light soiling and a stain at bottom center of both obverse and reverse (pictured). 

This is a scarce banknote in any condition. The banknote pictured is the one you will receive so please examine all pictures carefully.

50 Rentenmark is an elusive post-WWI issue, nicknamed the Wheat sheaf issue, due to its portrayal on the back of each denomination. 

At a stage where the German economy was starting to gain momentum after the Great War, 50 Rentenmark was the largest denomination. 

The Papiermark was worthless, the German coffers were empty of gold, so the idea of backing up a currency with land came to fruition. 

The Rentenmark replaced the Papiermark at an exchange of 1:10 Trillion.
