This is a vintage hand blown glass cat in two toned green sommerso. I cannot say definitively that it is Murano, but it does have some trademarks such as a highly polished bottom. The cat is a light green, with a darker green sommerso inside. It has the pinched face common in the mid century era. There are a few small bubbles inside of the glass, which make me reluctant to call it a Murano piece. The darker green inside of the body and at the base of the ears does react to uv light. The glow is much brighter in person than I can capture with my camera. I do not have a Geiger counter, so I'm not going to say for sure it is uranium. All of my blacklights are 395nm and the cat reacts even with the light held back. It seems to be less reactive with a larger black light bulb and more reactive with my flashlights. I don't have a 365nm light to test if it gets brighter with that wavelength (indicating that it's manganese). It does glow brighter than pieces of manganese that I have, but also less bright than uranium pieces, so it's a little bit of a conundrum. There are some small scratches or possibly a signature, but again I cannot say for certain, so I will call them scratches. When zooming in on the base, I did notice a couple of very small flea bite chips on the sides of the base. There are also some scratches on the left side of the neck of the cat. They are superficial and not indicative of a crack. Please see photos for depiction of the actual item listed for sale.
