Description: A charming set of miniature pewter Edward Lear "The Owl and the Pussycat" figures made by Hantel Victorian Miniatures, England. The Owl and the Pussycat are jointed, they come with the Pea Green boat which has a moving rudder, a pot of honey and plenty of money wrapped in a £5 note. These pieces have incredibly delicate painted decoration. The company was established in Warwick, England in 1973 and specialised in highly detailed pewter miniatures inspired by dolls house pieces.

I believe this is an earlier set as the cat is slim and in later sets it is much chubbier!

Identifying Marks / Makers Marks: Marked "HANTEL" inside the boat and on the side of both the cat and owl.

Age / date of manufacture:

Hantel Victorian Miniatures were produced from 1973- 2007.

Size: The boat measures 2 3/8" (just over 6 cm) long.

The owl measures 1" (2.5 cm) full length and the cat measures 1 1/2" (3.8 cm) from the tip of the tail to the feet full length (not seated in the boat).

Condition: The honey pot has some tiny chips to the paint near the base, otherwise all pieces are in excellent undamaged condition with no chips to the paintwork.
