For the Baseball Hobbyist . . .

1958-1965 Jay Publishing & Big League Books 5" X 7" picture

JIM  FREGOSI ~ 1961-1965 Los Angeles Angels

According to Standard Catalog of Vintage Baseball Cards, Jay Publishing issued 5X7 picture packs from 1958-1965. We have attempted to pinpoint the exact year (as much as possible) based on player's years with this team and any clue obtainable from the picture itself.

Picture packs have been an off-again, on-again staple of Major League baseball teams since the 1930's. In the late 1950's and early 1960's Jay Publishing's BIG LEAGUE BOOKS division marketed 5X7-inch picture packs for most MLB clubs while also providing "unofficial" yearbooks for select teams. This picture was printed on thin semi-glossy stock. Pictures and cards of this size fit perfectly in standard collector pages designed for 5X7 photos with full coverage.

ANY number of single cards (up to and including 8" X 10" in size) will ship for the one single card USPS Ground Advantage cost IF the buyer will request and wait for a combined invoice before paying. Also available is eBay standard envelope service for qualifying orders. Questions? Email us.

Condition: Good or better (with pinhole); check the high-resolution scans. A blue background has been provided to assist in evaluating corners and edges. This is the actual picture the buyer will receive.

Postscript: Our last scan has nothing to do with this listing. It is a picture of all-time baseball great Ted Williams with The Baseball Hobbyist's Steve Mitchell at a 1983 Connecticut sports collectors gathering - Ted's very first-ever collector event. On the second day of the show "The Splendid Splinter" visited with collectors and dealers and graciously granted this photo. (Photo was taken by fellow collector-dealer Bob Thing, longtime Maine hobbyist).
