Locking Sheet Metal Welding Lever Wrench made by LEVERAGE TOOLS Inc., 7.2" Long

Locking sheet metal welding locking lever wrench made by LEVERAGE TOOLS Inc. of Glenvil, Nebraska. The wrench is 7.2" long and 3.1 inches wide. Max opening is 1 inch, and largest opening for parallel objects (like a stack of sheet metal) is 0.4 inches.

The wrench allows the user to set the pressure via a thumbscrew. The wrench keeps the pressure constant independent of the opening of the jaws.

This is in contrast to the popular vise-grip pliers which set the distance between the jaws and need readjusting every time a new workpiece with a different thickness is handled.

In 1964, the lever locking wrench invention was patented under the US patent US3116656A.

The patent expired in 1981. After the expiration date, it looks like Sears copied the idea and called their wrenches the Craftsman Professional AutoLock wrench.
