15th Century Swiss Baselard Dagger

A rare seen set of early Swiss 15th century Baselard dagger, untouched and in original state .

The Balisard , undoubtedly have origins with the Swiss or German mercenaries. They established a very proven track record during the late middle ages and then in the renaissance, these Swiss soldiers where the mercenary troops the Landsknecht where modelled on so its easy to understand how they did not just share tactics but also weaponry.

While the Balisard was an extremely popular weapon through the middle ages, this set is marked “++ Hans Etham ++ and on the other side most of the lettering is illegible but you can make out a “X” and “++”

The dagger once again follow the iconic design of these daggers and having an extremely wide blade, this coupled with its size make it quiet imposing. The blade once again is in excellent shape and shows extensive signs of use.
