TIMBRE DENTELE - PERFORATED POSTAGE - ORIGINAL GUM - NOT HINGED
The history of Aitutaki mail and postage stamps covers the development of the postal service and the issue of postage stamps on Aitutaki — one of the atolls in the Cook Islands, which are a self-governing state entity in the commonwealth with New Zealand. Postage stamp issues The first stamps
In 1892-1903, postage stamps of the Cook Islands were used on Aitutaki.
There was no post office on the island until 1903, until New Zealand took control of its territory in 1901. In 1903, New Zealand made an overprint on its stamps of the text "AITUTAKI." ("AITUTAKI.") and denomination designations in the local dialect.
Seven of the eight stamps of the issue went into postal circulation in Auckland on June 12, 1903 and on Aitutaki on June 29. The eighth stamp with a face value of 2½ pence appeared in circulation later, on November 9, 1903.
In the period from 1911 to 1920, similar series with overprints were occasionally published. Subsequent issues
In 1920, New Zealand carried out an omnibus issue for a number of Cook Islands, with the name of the island indicated on each stamp. The same idea was the basis of a series of three stamps published in 1924-1927.
On March 15, 1932, the Aitutaki issues were replaced by the Cook Islands stamps again, and this continued for forty years. Independent mail
In 1972, an independent postal service was established on Aitutaki, and since then its own postage stamps have been issued there.
Aitutaki postage stamps are mainly printed by the printing company "Eraclio Fournier" (Spanish: Naipes Heraclio Fournier) in Spain. Postal issues are primarily intended for sale to collectors. At the same time, Aitutaki is also a client of the Interstate Philatelic Corporation, which is known for the production of such speculative products.
In addition to standard postage stamps, the following types of stamps are issued by the island:
Christmas — since December 11, 1972, commemorative — since May 14 , 1973, airmail — September 9, 1974, postal and charitable - from December 2, 1974 to November 19, 1998, official — from March 11, 1978 to July 2, 1991.
The first postal block was published on November 14, 1973 on the occasion of the wedding of Princess Anne and Captain Mark Phillips. Cataloging
Aitutaki postage stamps are included in the world's leading stamp catalogs. For example, in the American Scott catalog, a description of Aitutaki's postal issues is given in Volume 1.
