You will get the brand new filter assembly that fits in your frame sump on 1973 to 1980 OIF Triumph twins. This is an aftermarket upgrade and uses a paper filter as pictured, 71-3316. This will not work for 1971 because the location of the pickup tube, I have included that picture in the description. In order to use this on a 71 you would have to cut the pickup tube and solder it to the frame. I left 1972 out because as you know a dealer could have a 71 on the floor and just simply title it as a 72, (sometimes they would just change the fenders and tank to the new color, and sometimes do nothing just change the year) So with all years of these bikes I can't guarantee cutoff years. If you have a 72 and you want to use this part, just make sure your pickup tube comes off the bottom. On a side note, for the irregularities of British Bikes, If the factory uncovered a early 71 frame and it was already 72, they would have no problem building that bike up and sending it to the USA, that goes for all years, that is why you find a couple 26TPI CEI threads on bikes built after 1968 because they had already had 10,000 of those parts made up so they are going to still use them until they are gone.
