This is a genuine Chiptek magnetiser, that has been designed to re-magnetise all types of vintage model railway and Scalextric motors, the design is such that it can re-magnetise many different types, such as Hornby Dublo motors, including the block, horseshoe and ringfield magnets, and other makes of model locomotives with Alnico or Ferrite magnets and single magnet motors, such as used on Hornby, Wrenn and Tri-ang models, X03, X04, RX etc. but not the two magnet sealed metal can motors.

It is a very good and useful piece of equipment for collectors, restorers, traders and enthusiasts of model railways and vintage Scalextric cars. Electric motors can lose some of the magnetic strength over time, this is characterised by a loss of power and an increase in current draw. This can also happen if the motors are completely disassembled with the magnet taken out such as for thorough cleaning and servicing. This magnetiser can re-magnetise them, thereby reducing the current drawn and improving their performance.

As an advocate of the British Standard 1363, please be aware when purchasing electrical items on websites such as eBay and Amazon. There are many sellers who are selling equipment with counterfeit and low-quality mains leads. Plugs that are not safe, too small and do not even have a fuse or with a sleeved Earth pin. Detachable mains lead Earth pins should always be solid brass and not sleeved or insulated.
