Description: It is an authentic engraved antique map in great shape. It has a copyright date printed on the map of Sept.,1834, although it is from an 1844 edition of the atlas Maps of the Diffusion of Useful Knowledge, published London: Chapman and Hall, 1844. A copy of the title page is included for authenticity. The Society for the Diffusion of Useful Knowledge (SDUK) name appears in the title block. The society was formed in 1826 and committed to the publication of the most upto date scientific findings for the dispersion of knowledge to the general public. It is hand numbered in India Ink in the corner. The maps are some of the most detailed English Maps of the period. The map is being sold as seen in the main pic as a single that is not mounted, matted or framed.
Size: The map image area measures 12 1/4 by 15 1/2 inches (31x38cm) on a 13 1/2" by 16 1/4" page
Condition: The map is in Good condition, blank on reverse with original handcoloring as issued. There a short edge tear in the bottom margin professionally repaired on reverse and a tad of glue residue in the upper right margin, otherwise the map is well preserved on strong paper with a desireable antique quality, see the pics for more on condition. The pics are of the actual map you are bidding.
