'Aged' / 'Antique' Finish
This is an A4 / US Letter size sketchbook in portrait format. The cover is 'vintage' cow hide, which has been given a distressed finish to give an 'antique' look. The leather has been coloured with a wash of organic mahogany brown dye, which is derived from tree-bark.
The corners are protected by decorative brass corner trims, and there is a brass buckle and leather strap to close the book. Please note that all the metal parts have been chemically aged with acid to give an antique appearance.
The book contains 100 pages/200 usable sides of 150gsm cartridge drawing paper.
This is a rugged, serviceable book that is built to survive travelling. The binding is a traditional Italian stitch, in which the folios of paper are sewn directly into the leather spine - a style of binding that ensures a long life.

love working with leather, but for ethical reasons I only use vintage
leather for my books- ie leather from working animals that have come to
the end of their lives. Vintage leather has many natural features such
as pitting, scratches and abrasions. It has not been rolled, pressed,
reconstituted or otherwise treated in the style of synthetic leather. If
you prefer the perfection of synthetic leather and do not appreciate
the irregular features of natural leather, please don't buy my books.
And please don't ask me to make books in 'vegan' leather. I am in
sympathy with the vegan lifestyle but I use only genuine leather on
principle.
