Description:

A stunning small kaleidoscope made by C. Bennett Scopes, New York, USA. This scope has plastic fragments in the transparent plastic end. The images are created by the three mirrors inside, the transparent cylinder admits the light but the quantity of fragments excludes whatever colours beyond are within vision.

I am selling this scope with a wooden stand, it is not original.

Carolyn Bennett Huber founded C. Bennett Scopes in 1973 and is a full time kaleidoscope artist, she has also published a number of books on the subject.

This piece was part of the collection of automata and moving toys owned by Sir Nicholas Goodison, I have included some information about him below.

Nicholas Goodison (1927-2013) was a true polymath, as well as having a highly successful career in the financial industry he was also a leading figure in and patron of the Arts. He amassed his collection of sculpture and toys over a 50 year period whilst travelling the world.
