This is a RARE 1961 vintage copy of World's Finest #117 which features the team-up of Superman and Batman in their early exploits with guest appearance by Batwoman. Extra stories on Tommy Tomorrow, Green Arrow and Speedy. Written by Jerry Coleman/etc with art by Curt Swan/etc. It's first print and the overall condition is rated Fine. The cover is sharp with off-white pages. It has minimal creases and tears occurring along the cover edges. Staples are intact and fairly firm. Some spine splits (1/4" - 3/4") and cracks.
synopsis:
Batman and Robin go to investigate reports of a strange creature that is reportedly
robbing the J.C. Fist Gems store. When they arrive they are shocked to
find that all reports are true. When they try to stop the creature they
find that it has a number of different powers to keep them at bay. Batwoman
arrives on the scene, and spotting the crooks getaway car attaches a
phosphorescent paint can to the back of the car so she can track it
later. Superman
also arrives and tries to stop the creature but finds that they are an
equal match. The heroes are forced to break off their fight when the
creature ignites the oil on a fuel barge, allowing the crooks and their
creature to escape. While Batman, Robin and Superman try to make sense of the
situation, Batwoman follows the crooks back to their hideout and learns
that the creature is controlled by Luthor
who has a device that controls the creature. When she is spotted, she
accidentally hits one of the controls causing the creature to be
bombarded with energy that is reflected into Batwoman giving her super
powers. Luthor grabs the controls and escapes with his creature as the
thugs try to escape out the front door and are easily captured by
Batman, Robin and Superman.
