Description:  It is an authentic antique map approximately 199 years old from Cummings School Atlas Ancient & Modern, published by Cummings & Hillard, at the Boston Bookstore, No. 1 Cornhill as stated in the title area. A facsimile copy of the atlas cover page is included for authenticity. It is engraved by Hazen Morse and typically attributed to Jedidiah Morse, who along with his sons and other extended family members were very active in Boston during this period. Jedidiah Morse has been referred to as the "Father of American Cartography" and was also the father of Samuel Morse, the inventor of Morse Code, and Sydney who continued the business. It is not matted nor framed being sold as a single sheet as shown in the main pic photographed against a black background. The map was published in black and white, typical of a school atlas in which the first assignments would have been for the student to fill in the color, thus there is often a wide array of skill and color depending on the students abilities.

Size: The image area measures approximately 8 by 10 1/4 inches (20x26cm) on a page measuring 9 1/2 by 11 1/2" (24x29cm) as shown in the pic.

Condition: The map is in Good condition for its age, blank on reverse with original student hand coloring from the era. It is basically as seen in the pics with some wear around the edges, although the paper is very strong with high cotton content. Otherwise, it is fairly clean see the pics for more on condition. The pics are of the actual map.
