Description: It is an authentic antique copper engraved print over 230 years old with the plate marks clearly embossed around the margin. It is from an English edition of Count de Buffon's Histoire Naturelle, Generale et Particliere, published in Edinburgh, 1780. Count de Buffon (1707-1788), a French naturalist, often considered the father of modern natural history, was the director of the Jardin du Roi in Paris, the French version of Britain's Kew Gardens, during which he published his 36 volume work on Natural History. This print was published in a 1780 English edition, a facsimile copy of the title page is included for authenticity. It is being sold as a single sheet, not mounted nor framed. Overall a very nice miniature sized print that would frame up very well.
Size: The image area measures approximately 3 by 5 inches on a 5 by 8 1/4" page as seen in the pic.
Condition: The print is in Good condition for its age, blank on the reverse, emossed plate marks in the margin. There are couple of light smudges in the margin, otherwise it is very clean with a nice impression on a strong page, see the pics for more on condition. The pics are of the actual print.
