GERMAN SILVER PILL BOX

A charming little antique German silver box (probably a pill box) by Simon (Hermann) Rosenau of Bad Kissinger.
Of serpentine shape and decorated all round in the repousse technique with scenes of a couple with rake and spade harvesting fruit and vegetables in a garden setting with birds.

Date: circa 1880 - 1890.

Condition: Good functional condition. The lid hinges well and closes acceptably. It has been recently cleaned and very little tarnish remains in the crevices. The gilt finish inside is in good condition with just a couple of tarnish spots. The hallmarks to the underside are partially obscured, but the maker's mark is legible.
