CSS M. Jeff Thompson: a steam-powered side-wheel powered cotton-clad ram converted in New Orleans

in January 1861. She fought at Plum Point Bend and defended Memphis from the Union Navy. After

damaged by Union shells, she burned and her magazine exploded on June 6, 1862.
