Self made reproduction Red Army produce bag introduced Order of the People's Commissar of Defense of the USSR No. 58 dated January 31, 1941, and abolished a few months later in July 1941.   Copied from a genuine bag in my own collection, made from used faded and grubby cotton duck fabric imported from Russia, lined with natural linen, and closed by two metal buckles from a 1970's Soviet meshok pack.

Bag is worn on the belt in conjunction with either the models 1939 or 1941 rucksacks, it would carry mess tins, cup, spoon, and ration bags, the bag is approximately 24 cm 18 x cm 12 x cm.

In reality, this bag was only in use for a short while, not many pictures show it being used, a lot never got issued, and originals turn up from storage from time to time.  And for variety, at least one in a museum cabinet was used as a medics bag!
