- About Fenghuang (Chinese Phoenix): The Fenghuang are Mythological Birds of East Asia That Reign Over All Other Birds. The Males Are Called Feng and the Females Huang. In Modern Times, However, Such a Distinction of Gender is Often No Longer Made and the Feng and Huang Are Blurred Into a Single Feminine Entity So the Bird Can be Paired With the Chinese Dragon, Which Has Male Connotations. A Celestial Sign to the Chinese, the Phoenix is the Ruler of the Winged Kingdom. Exemplary, Magnificent and Legendary, This Bird is Synonymous With Good Fortune, Opportunity, and Luck. It Also Conveys Strength and Resilience in the Symbolic Rising From its Own Ashes as it Soars to Greater Heights. On its Own, the Phoenix is a Yang or Masculine Symbol and is Associated With Purifying and Transforming Fire Energies and the Four Winds. Combined With the Dragon the Phoenix Represents Yin or Feminine Energy. Fenghuang Symbolizes the Perfect Union of Yin and Yang. As a Point of Spiritual Focus, the Phoenix Evokes in Us the Five Human Qualities of Good Cosmic Chi (Energy): Virtue, Duty and Responsibility, Proper Behavior (Right Attitude), Compassion, Reliability and Loyalty. Its Body Symbolizes the Six Celestial Bodies: The Head is the Sky, the Eyes Are the Sun, the Back is the Moon, the Wings Are the Wind, the Feet Are the Earth, and the Tail Are the Planets.  As a Symbol of the Imperial House, it Represented Fire, the Sun, Justice, Obedience, and Fidelity. To the Chinese, the Phoenix Represented Power Sent From the Heavens to the Empress. Its Feathers Contain the Five Fundamental Colors: Black, White, Red, Blue and Yellow. These Colors Are Said to Represent the Confucian Virtues of: Loyalty, Honesty, Decorum, and Justice. Images of an Ancient Bird Have Appeared in China For Over 4,000 Years, the Earliest From the Shang Dynasty. During the Han Dynasty (2,200 Years Ago) and Later Dynasties, Two Phoenixes, One a Male (Feng) and Other a Female (Huang) Were Often Shown Together Facing Each Other. During the Yuan Dynasty the Two Terms Were Merged to Become the Generally Translated "Phoenix", But the "King of Birds" Came to Symbolize the Empress When Paired With a Dragon as a Dragon Represented the Emperor. During the Ming Dynasty, the Fenghuang Was Used as a Symbol Representing the Direction South and Was Continued to be Represented by the Male Facing the Female. The Fenghuang Has Very Positive Connotations. It is a Symbol of High Virtue and Grace. Each Part of Fenghuang's Body Symbolizes a Word, the Head Represents Virtue, the Wing Represents Duty, the Back Represents Propriety, the Abdomen Says Belief and the Chest Represents Mercy. In Some Traditions it Appears in Good Times, But Hides During Times of Trouble, While in Other Traditions it Appeared Only to Mark the Beginning of a New Era.

About Ming's Hawaii, Inc: The Name "Ming's", Has Achieved Worldwide Recognition as a Cultural Icon Originating in Hawaii during the Early 1940s. Ming’s Was a Well-Respected and Venerable Firm, Which Operated From Honolulu, Hawaii For Almost 60 Years. From Early Beginnings of Spectacular Hand-Carved Pieces, to Stunning Hawaiian Motifs Crafted in Sterling Silver and Gold, and the Highly Desired Pierced Gold Designs, All of Ming's Creations Demanded Exacting Details. Hawaiian Tropical to Asian Exotic, Ming's Jewelry Reflects the Popular Images of Its Time and Has Become a Cultural Icon Sought By Vintage Collectors Worldwide. Its Concept Was Developed From Mr. and Mrs. Wook Moon’s Years of Living in Shanghai, China in the 1930’s Where They Came to Study the History, Arts, Antiquities, and Ornaments of This Ancient Civilization. Upon Returning to Hawaii in 1941, They Opened a Small Storefront Business in Downtown Honolulu and Named It Ming’s. The Name Ming's Was Likely Derived From the Ming Ruling Dynasty of China From 1368 to 1644, Which Was Quoted as Being "One of the Greatest Eras of Orderly Government and Social Stability in Human History". This Little Store Became a Household Name Among Working Women and Tourists. As the Business Rapidly Grew, the Moon Family Expanded Ming's Throughout the Hawaiian Islands and Opened a String of Stores in the Mainland. Mr. Moon Personally Designed Most of the Jewelry and Often Created Pieces Himself. Apprentices Were Also Trained to Reproduce His Designs and Other Well-Known Hawaiian Artists Were Commissioned to Create Pieces. In Hawaii, Pieces From Ming's Have Become Family Treasured Heirlooms Handed Down Generation to Generation. From Their Delicately Carved Tropical Floral Motifs, 14k Jade and Pearl Designs, Ming’s Was Long Considered the Preeminent Name For Hawaiian and Asian Heritage Jewelry. Jewelry Sold at Ming's of Past, Greatly Played a Leading Role in Today's Hawaiian Jewelry Designs. One of Ming's Most Unusual and Appealing Jewelry Lines Was the Pierced Gold Patterns Line; All Pieces Were Originally Designed By Mr. Moon Himself. He Used the Ancient Symbols of China to Give Rings, Earrings, Bracelets, Pendants and Necklaces a Powerful and Exotic Appeal. After Closing its Last Door in 1999, the Legacy That Ming's Left Us With Will Never Be Forgotten. Ming’s of Hawaii© is Pleased to Announce the Reintroduction of its Exclusive, Original Pierced Patterns Jewelry Line and Resume Those Same Traditionally Unforgettable Hawaiian and Asian Heritage Designs That Only Ming's Was Known For.
