Many books about space are oftentimes autobiographies of astronauts. Such was Tom Jones's Sky Walking: An Astronaut's Memoir.

This 2023 book, Space Shuttle Stories, is different. After the Apollo and Skylab programs ended, the space shuttle program took their place. Jones flew on STS-59, STS-68, STS-80 and STS-98. Since there were 135 space shuttle missions, there are 135 stories from each mission in Space Shuttle Stories.

Jones began gathering memories from astronauts. He interviewed 130 of them. It took years. In Space Shuttle Stories, there is excitement, terror, humor, disasters, quirks, wonder and everything else.

Space Shuttle Stories is described as the "definitive oral history" of the program. There are 640 pictures, data on each mission, crew, launch, landing, duration and highlights. The book is hefty, weighing more than 3 pounds over 320 pages.

Jones gave a presentation and signed Space Shuttle Stories at Space Center Houston on Nov. 20, 2023. With his signature, Jones also added his missions. Two photos of the event are included with the book.
