This is a RARE 1969 vintage copy of Captain America #109 which features Captain America's early exploits with his origin retold, and the 1st time 'Vita-Rays' are included in Cap's origin story. Classic iconic cover by Jack Kirby. Written by Stan Lee with art by Jack Kirby. It's first print and the overall condition is rated Very Fine. The cover is sharp with off-white pages. It has minimal creases and 1 small tear occurring along the cover edges. Staples are intact and fairly firm.
synopsis:
Captain America has a visit from Nick Fury, and tells the SHIELD operative an old war story from 1944, in which he and Bucky worked together to take down a Nazi coastal gun control unit so that Allied Forces could launch another beach assault in the war effort. This story once more leads Cap into his lamentations over Bucky's death, and how guilt ridden he is that he managed to outlive his young partner. He begins telling the tale of how he became Captain America.
Cap finishes up his story that by the wars end Bucky's luck ran out and he died. With his story done, Steve thanks Nick for letting him get things off his chest. As Fury leaves to resume his work at SHIELD, he tells Cap that losses like that are hard to forget, but suggests to Steve to relax and get a few laughs. With Fury gone, Steve considers that perhaps after all these years, he's forgotten how to.
