Description:
1 extremely rare, early Japanese World War 2 Naval Admiral dress sword. This sword would make an incredibly rare addition to any collection.
This is NOT a standard Naval Officer dress sword. This sword was ONLY carried by Flag Rank Officers.
This sword has a 5-7-5 kiri emblem on the backstrap, and on all three gold-gilt saya fittings. The saya is sharkskin with gold-plated fittings. This sword has a nickel-plated blade.
This is a book sword. This is the actual Navy Admiral Sword photographed on page 263 & 264 for Jim Dawson's reference book 'Swords of Imperial Japan 1868-1945 Cyclopedia Edition'! See photos above of these pages. Compare this sword to the photographs, and you will find that this is THE Admiral's Sword you see in Dawson's book.
Note the original Admiral's knot attached to this sword. This knot is a premium addition to this rare sword offering.
Condition:
This incredibly rare Japanese WW2 Naval Admiral's Dress Sword is in exceptional condition. This sword is nearly mint--with only signs of honest, very light carry.
All sword and saya fittings are perfect. The nickel-plating on the blade is 98%--there are only very occasional spots of light oxidation on the blade.
The sword knot is in quite perfect condition.
