  eBay standard envelope FAQ
Q: What is eBay standard envelope?
A: eBay standard envelope is a cheap, efficient, and most importantly TRACKED First Class Mail envelope.

Q: Why is this item being shipped with eBay standard envelope?
A: The eBay standard envelope option is the cheapest way to ship lower value (Under $20) items with confirmable delivery. It allows the sellers to reduce the costs of shipping and pass the savings along to their buyers, and provides a window into the status of their orders.

Q: Whats the catch?
A: There are two EXTREMELY important things to note when it comes to eBay standard envelope:

1. The eBay standard envelope is essentially a letter shipped as First Class Mail. This means that the delivery speed is the same as sending someone a letter in the mail. Sometimes this can be extremely fast. Sometimes it can be right within the range of the estimated delivery time frame. Sometimes it takes a month. This is the reality of sending letters via the USPS. USPS is VERY good at getting things where they are supposed to go eventually.

2. The ESUS tracking provided by the eBay standard envelope is NOT tracked by USPS. It is tracked by eBay via Pitney Bowes. The QR code stamp is scanned at USPS facilities that have machines capable of doing so. Unfortunately not all USPS facilities have such a capability. Because of this, there are MUCH less shipping updates than with USPS tracking. Typically there will be several "in transit" pings, which mean that the letter is in possession of the USPS. There may or may not be updates between the first "in transit" ping and the "delivered" ping. The tracking is rudimentary, but does provide both buyers and sellers the benefit of knowing when an item has actually been shipped, and if the item is going to make it to it's final destination.

Q: My tracking says delivered but it wasn't in my mail box. Why are you a lying to me?!
A: First, it unfortunately needs to be stated that once the USPS is in possession of an envelope, parcel, package etc., the sender has ABSOLUTELY NO CONTROL WHAT HAPPENS TO IT. The USPS is vastly underfunded and understaffed, yet the postal workers still manage to get things where they need to go. Sometimes it takes them longer than others. Severe weather can and will impact the delivery speed. Secondly the quirk of the tracked envelope is that it actually ping the "delivered" status when the envelope is scanned by the sorting machines at your LOCAL POST OFFICE. This means that when an item shipped with ESUS tracking says "Delivered" , you know that you will be receiving you item very soon. Possibly even that very day! Though it is not a-typical for the letter to arrive 1 to 2 days later.

If an item has not arrived within the "estimated delivery time frame", please DO NOT open a request.  I can not influence the shipping speed once the item has left my possession.

The tracking information available to the BUYER is the EXACT SAME tracking available to the SELLER.
